Pastoral Care
Supporting the whole child
Caring for Every Student
At BIS, we believe that academic success goes hand-in-hand with emotional and social wellbeing. Our pastoral care system ensures that every student feels known, valued, and supported throughout their time at school.
Pastoral Care System
Each student is assigned to a form group with a dedicated form tutor who monitors their academic progress, wellbeing, and personal development. Form tutors are the first point of contact for students and parents.
Our Approach
- Knowing Every Student - Small class sizes mean teachers know students as individuals
- Safe Environment - Creating a culture where students feel secure and respected
- Open Communication - Regular dialogue between school, students, and families
- Proactive Support - Identifying and addressing concerns early
- Celebrating Success - Recognizing achievements, both big and small
Student Wellbeing
We teach students strategies for managing stress, building resilience, and maintaining positive mental health. Our curriculum includes lessons on emotional intelligence, conflict resolution, and healthy relationships.
Positive Behavior
We promote positive behavior through clear expectations, consistent routines, and recognition of good choices. Our approach emphasizes respect, responsibility, and kindness.
Transition Support
We provide extra support during key transitions—starting school, moving between year groups, and preparing for university. These transitions are carefully managed to ensure students feel confident and prepared.
Partnership with Parents
Pastoral care works best when school and home work together. We maintain regular communication with parents and welcome their input in supporting their child's development.
